Junior Club

The Junior Club meets from May to September on most Sunday Mornings from 9:30 - 11:30.   See the What's On section for when the junior club is running.

Run by Mike Martin with help from Tom Lukehurst and other club members, we provide BCU qualified tuition with an emphasis on Safety and Fun.

Children are welcome to join us from the age of 8; we have a limit of 16 children per session, and keep parents informed as to when places are available.

We supply boats and paddles, buoyancy aids and helmets. Children attending canoe and kayak sessions at RLSCC should come in clothes in which they can swim, with a change of clothes and towel for after the session. This should include shoes that can get wet. If children have wet suits these are ideal, but not essential. On colder days a windproof jacket is advisable, but we will adapt the session to allow for weather. On warm days the session usually finishes with wet games.

As children grow in skill we will introduce them to all the many aspects of the sport, from touring and racing to white water and play-boating.

Children should be competent swimmers, and be confident in the water.

If you have any queries about the Junior Club you can contact: Mike Martin or Tess Lukehurst.
