The recreation group meets on Tuesday evenings from 7pm onwards at the clubhouse opposite Victoria Park in Leamington. Paddlers can either socialise (drinks and cake are available at very reasonable prices) or get wet on the River Leam. Activities on the water include playing polo or other canoeing games, practising paddling skills, rescue skills or visits upstream to Jephson Garden weir or downstream to Princess Drive weir. Informal coaching is available from the more experienced members of the club some of whom hold BCU coaching qualifications. Once the paddling is over we can usually be found in The Cricketers Pub on Archery Road, Leamington. We also frequent Nene Whitewater Centre and Holme Pierrepoint Whitewater course on Tuesday nights. To find out where we'll be on a particular night check the whats-on section. During the summer the light nights enable us to venture further afield and paddle to some of the waterside pubs in the locality for a pint or two before paddling back to the club.
Saturday trips occur fortnightly to whitewater river and surfing venues further afield (usually Wales). Some trips are also organised over the whole weekend. Trips are arranged of varying difficulties so there is something to suit everyone whether beginner, intermediate or advanced. The standard of each trip is usually determined in advance but may change depending on water levels and the paddlers going. Club members have also paddled in Scotland, the French and Austrian Alps and Canada.
Most trips, and activities are organised via an email group, to subscribe send an email to rlscc-subscribe at yahoogroups.com
